How we compare
Our assessments are editorial. They describe how a site looks and behaves at the time we looked at it — they are not financial advice, betting advice, or a prediction of any outcome. Sites change often, so treat our notes as a starting point and read the operator's own terms before you register.
Step 1
UK focus and licensing
We only list brands that present themselves to players in the United Kingdom. Before a brand goes in the table we check that it publishes its licensing and operator details where a player can actually find them, and that its terms are written for a UK audience. We are not a regulator and we do not verify licences on anyone's behalf — always check the operator's own footer and the Gambling Commission register yourself.
Step 2
Everyday usability
Most people open these sites on a phone. We look at how quickly the lobby loads, whether search and category filters actually work, whether a specific game can be found in a couple of taps, and whether the design gets in the way of reading terms.
Step 3
Payments and account handling
We note the breadth of deposit and withdrawal options presented, how clearly minimums and processing times are stated, and how visible the verification requirements are before you deposit rather than after.
Step 4
Support and contactability
We check whether live chat, email and help articles are reachable from the main navigation, and whether help content answers real questions about withdrawals and account closure rather than only marketing.
Step 5
Clarity of terms and promotions
Offers only matter if the conditions are legible. We look at whether wagering requirements, expiry windows and game restrictions sit next to the offer or are hidden behind several clicks.
Step 6
Safer gambling tools
Deposit limits, time-outs, reality checks and self-exclusion should be in the account menu, not buried. We flag brands where these controls are hard to reach.
What does not influence a listing
Commercial relationships do not change an assessment, the wording of a note, or the ordering of our table. We do not sell top positions, and we do not remove critical wording on request. If a brand disputes something we have written, we will look at the evidence and correct genuine errors.
Review cycle
We revisit listed brands periodically and whenever a reader tells us something has changed. Corrections are welcome by email and we would rather fix a detail than defend it.

Gambling should stay entertainment, never a way to make money. Set deposit and time limits before you play, take breaks, and stop if it stops being fun. Free, confidential support is available 24/7 at BeGambleAware.org or on the National Gambling Helpline.
